Forest litter in Plumas National Forest, near the Pacific Crest Trail in the vicinity of the Middle Fork of the Feather River. This area all burned off in the North Complex wildfire in the last few week, at least according to the fire maps I've seen. We thought it looked ripe for a wildfire when we were there--alas, we were right.

Gnarled trees (spruce) near Round Top Lake, Sierra Nevada, California. Elevation here is a bit over 9300 ft (2835 m). The high point in back on the left is Round Top (10,381 ft/3164 m). And yes, that white stuff on the slopes behind is snow, lingering into August as it should!
