In the 1970s municipal councils all over the Netherlands abolished urinals and public conveniences. They were not necessary anymore, because people were civilised. Now the streets are used as urinals.

These were the toilet facilities for gentlemen ("Heeren"), but because there are few gentlemen about today, they closed these facilities down. It was closed down with a makeshift fence, but now they've put in a custom-made iron fence. It looks good for the beautiful art-deco Haarlem Station.
