Het Loo Palace was built between 1684 and 1686 for King-Stadtholder William III and Queen Mary II of England. It remained a palace until 1975, then it was turned into a museum.

In use since 1581 by Leiden University. Before that it was a Dominican cloister, but the nuns left when Leiden turned protestant. Apparantly the university has no proof of ownership, but the nuns haven't claimed it back.
