In the olden days this was where the tram lines from Katwijk and Noordwijk joined the line from The Hague. It was also the border between Leiden and Oegstgeest.

The Rijnsburgerweg is the road to Rijnsburg. Large and pretty houses all along the road, some of them converted to office use.
