Not entirely accurate, as there were two trains, one of the Allies and one of the Germans, not just one railway carriage. The museum has a history going back to 1901, with some figurines made at the end of the 18th century. www.musees-compiegne.fr/musee-de-la-figurine-historique

De Cruyenaere was a Belgian who emigrated to Canada. He enlisted at age 16 and this picture was taken. He survived the war and he died, aged 80, in Winnipeg, Canada.
