Protestant church in Katwijk

This church in Katwijk dates from around 1460. Named after Andrew the Apostle, patron saint of fishermen. The church is located on the coast. Between 1890 and 1924 it was a shed for a shipping company. The tower used to be higher, but it was damaged in 1836 during a storm. Also in the Second World War the tower was reduced in height by order of the Germans. Between 2009 and 2014 the church was restored, mainly to remove the salt from the structure. Picture from 2023

Hymn board in the Lokhorst Church

27 Apr 2007 161
Last Wednesday I visited another concert in the Lokhorst Church. This is the hymn board (in use during church services) so that the attendees know which hymn is to be sung. Numbers are put into the slots. "Gz" is an abbreviation of "Gezang", which means hymn. Last Wednesday they played Buxtehude. A small extract can be heard and seen here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLxjyHbdVRM There are free concerts in the Lokhorst Church (Pieterskerkstraat 1) every Wednesday from 12.30pm–1pm until June 27, 2007.
