Rotterdam was bombed in the Second World War and after the war, the city government decided not to rebuild the old city, but to start afresh, so Rotterdam has all the attractiveness of a city in the GDR in the late 1980s. The trams aren't that pretty either. Photographing inside the tram was forbidden, I was told by the tram conductor.
