The chipknip was a electronic payment system for small payments. With these loading stations you could put money on your bank card. Payment could take place without a network connection. It was used mostly for vending machines, parking meters and company restaurants. The usage peak was in 2010 with 27.4 million transaction. One of the biggest drawbacks was that you could not see what the balance was on your card.
