The family died out in 1830 and after several owners it was bequeathed to the city of Venice in 1898 to turn it into a modern art museum. It also has a small Oriental collection, collected by Prince Henry of Bourbon-Parma, Count of Bardi, at the end of the 19th century during a trip through Asia.
