Receipts of yesteryear

01 May 2021 52
In the olden days receipts used to be printed with a fixed system of figures or symbols (in the middle). The variation in what could be printed was limited. I remember getting long receipts from supermarkets with only the prices. If a mistake was made (e.g. the wrong price was entered into the cash register), it was very difficult to find out where the mistake was made. Later matrix printed receipts became popular, that meant that there was no restriction on what could be printed. Nowadays thermal printing is popular, so that there is no need for changing ink, but they fade over time, leaving no record.

The city of Bonn (Germany) gave me this parking ticket. It is very polite, as is normal in Germany. The translation is roughly as follows: "Very honoured partakeress of traffic! Very honoured partaker of traffic! You have parked your motor vehicle in violation of the traffic rules. That is why you will soon receive a written warning, on which you also will see the amount of the fine and a contact name with a telephone number. The warning will be sent to the address of the owner in the official register. When you haven't registered your correct address, than you should do so immediately. With friendly greetings Your City of Bonn" Intercountry collection of fines does not run smoothly, so I will probably never hear of this.
