The Dutch postal service can now automatically check for correct postage. If an item is underpaid, it will get the message “frankering gecontroleerd” printed on it. The sender or the recipient will receive a request to pay the difference.

Cancellations are done by inkjet printers. This cancellation has an extra message, that there has been a check for correct postage. This means that the addressee or sender will get a postage-due notice. The 44 cents should have been 69 cents, as that is the correct postage from January 1, 2015.
