Hugh, Margrave of Tuscany “He went hunting both alone and in company wandering through the woods of Mugello. Legend has it that, during a hunt, he was surprised by a strong thunderstorm and forced to find refuge in a cave. Inside he saw a terrifying and unimaginable spectacle: there were damned people tormented by devils who beat them with big hammers and tortured them, between swearing and moaning. Hugh, shaken by such an apparition, knelt down and beg Our Lady to save him, promising to change his life. After the fervent prayer, the horrendous vision disappeared, the storm calmed down, he was able to get out of the cave and returned to Florence.
