Waiting for the Van Brienenoord Bridge in Rotterda…

14 Jun 2006 287
The bridge can be found in Rotterdam. It is part of the motorway A16, one of the busiest in the Netherlands. The bridge crosses the Nieuwe Maas river. The bridge is 1320 meters long and is 24 meters above the water. Click here to see where this photo was taken. The bridge is named after the island Van Brienenoord below the bridge. The island is named after A.W. Baron van Brienen van de Groote Lindt, a rich nobleman and businessman, also member of parliament in the 19th century. He cast the decisive vote in favour for the liberal constitution of 1848. For another view of the bridge and the name-giving island: www.flickr.com/photos/renerotterdam/62460325/
