Abbreviated to LUMC. Formerly known as the Academic Hospital Leiden, the Dutch abbreviation was AZL, because hospital in Dutch is ziekenhuis, which directly translated means house of the sick. Before AZL, the hospital was known as Nosocomium Academicum.

City Hall dates from 1596. It was designed by Lieven de Key. Unfortunately it burnt down in 1929, leaving only the facade. It was open during Monument Weekend.
