The Netherlands had a bewildering number of speed limits on the motorways for cars: 130 km/h, 120 km/h, 100 km/h, 100 km/h between 7am and 7pm, even on the same road, resulting in fines if you forgot which speed limit was applicable. Now it is all 100 km/h because politicians mishandled nitrogen oxide pollution.

In the 1950s this part of green belt was part of a development plan for Leiden University. It took until the 2000s before anything was built on it. The row of houses are emergency-student houses, on the right a building for new gene-technology compagnies. On the right the highway A44.
