Playing cards were smuggled from Belgium to evade this tax, so in the end the tax was abolished. These cards were produced by the Dutch playing-cards factory "Nederland" located in Amsterdam. "Nederland" existed from 1909 to 1969. In 1969 it was taken over by Van Genechten . In 1970 it became Cartamundi .
