The railway carriage has been removed from the museum building, the French had to sign their surrender there. After the signing, the whole memorial was removed, only the statue of general Foch was left standing. The carriage was moved to Germany where it was displayed. It burnt down in 1945. The memorial was restored.

Not entirely accurate, as there were two trains, one of the Allies and one of the Germans, not just one railway carriage.
The museum has a history going back to 1901, with some figurines made at the end of the 18th century.
