The church burnt down in 2019, but it will be rebuilt. It is a catholic church. The first (clandestine) catholic church in Hoogmade after the Reformation dates from 1742 and it was outside of the village. It was too small and in 1875 a new church was built, now inside Hoogmade. That one collapsed in 1929, but the tower remained. The new church around the old tower was consecrated in 1932. This is a view before the fire:
