Altona seems to have suffered a lot from 1960s and 1970s buildings, which are not popular nowadays.

Frappant was built in 1973, designed by Bohran Mohregi. It was a building which combined living, restaurants, bars and shopping. It suffered from one big drawback: nobody wanted to go there. It struggled on, with entire floors standing empty. In 1998 the last but one inhabitant left, the major department store Karstadt stayed on till 2003. Recently Frappant was sold to Ikea, which is going to demolish it and to build a IKEA store on this spot. From 2003 to 2009 Frappant was used by artists and also a music club called Hafenklang Exil.
