The Lavra is a very old cloister complex. The most impressive are the catacombs with the mummies of saints.
You can visit the Lavra as a tourist, but the religious are in the majority. In western Europe it is usually the other way around.

The river is the Dnjepr. I had to learn about the rivers in the Soviet-Union when I was at school, but I never imagined I would one day swim in the Dnjepr.
