The Galleria is based on the collection of the politician and entrepreneur Vittorio Cini (1885–1977). It is located in the Palazzo Loredan Cini.

The palazzo dates from 1510–1520, home to the Querini Stampalia family. It was bequeathed to the city of Venice in 1869. It houses a library and an archive, also the picture collection of the family.

The palazzo belonged to the Mocenigo family and the present condition dates mostly from the 17th century. It was bequeathed to the city of Venice in 1945. Since 1985 it functions to as the Museum and Study Centre of the History of Fabrics and Costumes.

The Autobahn hotel-restaurant Hermsdorfer Kreuz dates from before the Second World War. It was never completed in the way it was intended. It was an important stop place in the GDR and the Stasi kept an eye out for unauthorised contacts between Westeners and the population of the GDR.
