Herman Coster lived from 1865 to 1899. He studied to become a lawyer in Leiden and afterwards he went to South Africa. He died in the Battle of Elandslaagte . This plaque was made in 1901.

You might have learned that Gutenberg was responsible for that, but the Dutch think otherwise, although the story isn't really told with much enthusiasm anymore. More info about Laurens Coster .
