We had a little chat. It takes about 10 hours every week to maintain this mill, and he does two others as well, all volunteer work. This mill has been surrounded by trees since the 1960s, so there is less wind for the mill to run. That is not good for the mill, he explained, but trees are more important then mills at the moment. Built in 1752 to replace the one from 1748 that burnt down. Restored in 1996. The smallest windmill of its kind in the Netherlands. It is still able to pump water if needed, in the old days it helped to keep the Kikkerpolder (Frog's Polder) dry.
