One of the biggest problems for trams in Amsterdam is these bridges, so trams do not only have to bend sideways, but also up en down. This new tram – the Combino – is not very good at clearing bridges, so the Combino's will not be a long-lasting tram.

I grew up in The Hague, with the PCC tram and as a consequence I never thought much of the trams in Amsterdam. They were ugly, slow, noisy, with little comfort and with hard benches. You can judge for yourself.
