The castle dates from the 16th century. The last marquise, Suzanne Augustine de Coatanscour, was guillotined in 1794 by the French revolutionaries. After that, the castle fell into disrepair. Part of the castle was sold for its stone. In 1911 it was bought by the government and monument status was granted. The restoration was finished in 2005.

Some time ago scientists fed all kinds of drugs to a spider in order to find out what the effect was on their web building. I didn't do that. The spider caught a big moth later on.
