In primary school I learnt about Dutch industries: Hoogovens (now Corus Steel), Philips and also the ENCI (or First Dutch Cement Industry). Their production process was rather simple: they dug marl from the hills of Limburg and turned it into cement. If they still produce cement this way, I do not know.
