York Minster

City Wall

29 May 2013 123
The multi-angular Tower is so-named after its 10 sides. It stood at the south-western corner of the Roman legionary fortress and is the only surviving one of eight similar towers. The distinctive bands of terracotta tiles which were used to decorate the walls can still be seen. The top 3 metres of stone including arrow slits were added during the 13th century. York, UK.

He was proclaimed Roman Emperor at Eboracum (York) in 306 AD. This is most likely to have taken place at or near the Roman headquarters building, the ruins of which can still be seen under York Minster (in the Undercroft). This statue is situated just outside the Minster.
