Still working on the crocheted tree costume for Halloween. The headpiece has more felted-wool leaves now, and is wired for more support. Need to move on to the tunic/trunk component soon, but I'll still be adding more felted leaves and maybe some other features to the headpiece, as the costume develops. This is probably the last photo of it that I can take with the webcam--it's growing too big!

Headpiece of tree costume is growing, and sprouting felted wool leaves...

I made this headpiece yesterday at ReDiscover Center's Kids' Swap-o-Rama-Rama, from fabric samples, random buttons and beads, some lace cut off old leggings, and an elastic headband. The front medallion is on a barrette clip and can be removed for separate use. I know it isn't anything near historically accurate, but I had fun making it and decided to wear it with my suffragette costume to the Mar Vista Farmers' Market today, for National Costume Swap Day and Trashion Show.

I'm crocheting a rainstorm costume for Halloween. This is the second photo, from May 2013, showing how the headpiece has gathered more clouds... I don't think I can keep using the webcam for these photos! Like my tree costume last year, it's getting too big to photograph at arm's length.
