These were based on a recipe for molasses-ginger cookies--but I didn't have enough molasses or ground ginger. So honey instead of molasses, cardamom and nutmeg instead of ginger. Tasted great, with a wonderful texture.
Wednesday Bread

What's Wednesday Bread? It's partly using up leftovers, to make room for Thursday's new box of CSA vegetables. This has a lot of garlic, cheese, and a spicy condiment we got with some Lebanese takeout the day before--but anyway, it worked. Rose very well, with a nice color. It was gone before the next morning.

Made today from a bunch of small summer squashes we got in the CSA box. (The grapefruit was also from the CSA box.) Very moist!

First loaf of the autumn here. Made with rye, whole wheat, and unbleached white flours, butter, milk, ricotta cheese, Trader Joe's ginger spread (which is just ginger and sugar), and brewer's yeast flakes.

Cookies made with shredded beets. This is the very vivid batter before baking. Also contain cornmeal, cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon chips, and the usual cookie ingredients (flour, butter, baking soda, vanilla).

Cookies made with shredded beets. Even my picky 9-year-old said they're "really good." (I didn't tell her why they were pink.)

Spinach and cheese are in the dough--flavor isn't strong, just a hint. Good texture, color wasn't quite this ghoulish in person.
