We're making an owl costume. This is the headpiece (so far--it may still grow further). Shiny yarns are a bit of a safety feature for night-time trick-or-treating.

Daughter made the wings for her owl costume this afternoon at the Swap-o-Rama-Rama at ReDiscover Center. Her wings are made from a discarded feather boa and some fleece. Literary owls include the Owl of Minerva, and those in Harry Potter, Winnie the Pooh, WInd in the Willows; she prefers to say it's the Owl from the Tootsie-pop commercials. Sigh.
