I don't usually share non-chalk, non-crafty photos here, but I was pleased with this one I took at the Cinco de Mayo festivities in Gardena CA yesterday. The costumes and dancing and music were amazing and hard to capture, but this is a taste.

Members of the 501st Legion were on hand to pose for photos in front of the Death Star backdrop.

They were shooting a movie at Redondo Beach pier today. Apparently some kind of costume party? Notice the shoes--all flats. You hardly ever see anyone's feet in a party scene, might as well be comfortable.

The principal also dresses up, to emcee the Halloween parade.

The teachers at our school do matching costumes by grade--so the first grade teachers might all dress as pencils, for example. The 4th grade teachers were Cat-in-the-Hat, Thing One, and Thing Two, this year.

Our literary costumes from 2007: Nell was Little Red Riding Hood, and I was the Red Queen from 'Through the Looking Glass'.
