At a time when we are struggling out of Covid but shackled by a fuel shortage, movement remains restricted and autumn is closing around us, photography is a challenge and one is happy with a record shot. It was a prematurely gloomy evening with steady rain when I snatched a couple of pictures at the grubby Portsmouth & Southsea. The dot matrix indicators made little sense but South Western Railway Class 450 emu 450031 was possibly going to form a service to Southampton. Its livery contrasts with the adopted SWR colours on a Class 440 unit at the high-level platform which I read off as 440038. TZ70_2_P1000719E

Two DB Class 440 emus take a break from the weather at München Hbf before operating the 1135 RE57030 to Ulm Hbf (440 511-4) and the 1100 RB57128 to Donauwörth (440 002-4) with the 1100 RB57028 to Dinkelscherben at the front. The train divides at Augsburg Hbf. 200_3_P1090227R

DB Class 440 emu 440 701-1 heads a 12-car formation at München Hbf, the 1623 RE4078 to Passau (first eight coaches) and the 1623 RB59260 to Landshut. The train divides at Freising. The Passau train includes 440 515-5 and the Landshut section is 440 519-7. TZ30_P1050314R
