The Celebrity Constellation was the penultimate of six ships to leave Port Everglades on this Saturday when it sailed for Key West. This is another shot which highlights how many recreational craft accompany these departures.

This view of Celebrity Eclipse leaving Port Everglades for Oranjestad in pleasing late afternoon light also give some idea of the number of small vessels which attend such dramatic departures.

In my opinion, the Solstice Class ships operated by Celebrity are pretty good-looking. In this view of Celebrity Eclipse leaving Port Everglades for Oranjestad, the soft afternoon light enhances those looks further.

Carnival Freedom, seen leaving Port Everglades for St. Thomas, was the third of six ships to depart on this January Saturday. This shot gives some idea of how smaller vessels buzz around the departing cruise ships and includes Celebrity Eclipse which was bound for Oranjestad and followed Freedom out of port.

Cruise ships feature widely in my photostream. My rather challenging ambition is to photograph every ship in each port it visits. I am unlikely to achieve that but it is helped by my own travels. Many of the pictures will be purely documentary but I hope too to bring a little variety of composition to the subject(s). While we were watching the six ships which departed Port Everglades on this Saturday afternoon, there was a steady stream of aircraft approaching runway 28R at FLL. In this view, a US Airways A320 is seen behind Celebrity Eclipse which will shortly depart for Oranjestad.

I have taken a lot of pictures of Celebrity Eclipse. I make no apology for that because one rather challenging ambition of mine is to photograph every ship in each port it visits. I am unlikely to achieve that but it is helped by my own travels and, incidentally, Eclipse is one ship on which I have travelled. In this imposing view, Eclipse is seen at Port Everglades shortly before departing for Oranjestad.

Winter weekends are busy at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. Saturday 25 January 2014 saw six cruise ships in port and their departures were accompanied by warm evening sun and a host of small craft as well as Sheriff's and Coast Guard vessels. In this busy view, Crown Princess, which was the second ship to depart, leaves for Princess Cay, Bahamas. It would be followed later by Celebrity Eclipse (left) en route to Orangestad and RCCL Oasis of the Seas (right) to Nassau.
