Swan is, unfortunately, a very popular name for canal boats with at least 209 listed. This example, registered with the Canal & River Trust as no. 97571 is moored on the Regent's Canal near St Pancras lock.

The view, broadly east, along Regent's Canal below Coal Drop Yards at Kings Cross in the now N1C postcode. The Coal Office can be seen overlooking the canal and gives some relief from the shockingly dull modern buildings beyond.

Grand Union Walk - 3 April 2018

Architects have brought into the world many beautiful creations and many ugly ones too. Although an appreciation of architecture, perched precariously between engineering and art, is necessarily personal, I contend that this development in Camden Town is amongst the latter. Even allowing for the fact that I photographed it on a dull, rain-spattered today, one cannot imagine that this particular view of the Regent's Canal is ever cheery. The best that can be said of Grand Union Walk is that it is convenient for the supermarket as it is immediately adjacent to a Sainsburys in an even uglier building.

Feng Shang Princess - 16 October 2015

Feng Shang Princess Floating Chinese Restaurant, Southern Star Cumberland Basin, Prince Albert Road, London NW1. (Access from Prince Albert Road).
The restaurant is the dominant feature of a small part of the Regent's Canal with a fascinating history. The Cumberland Arm (or Cumberland Market Branch) was a 1-kilometre (0.6 mi) long stretch of canal that connected Cumberland Basin to the Regent's Canal ( which passes through the present site of the car park of London Zoo). The Cumberland Turn junction with the Regent's Canal is still visible with the short stub-end of the arm remaining housing the restaurant. (Part of this text is edited from a Wikipedia entry).
