Also very much a record shot, this picture poses the silent question 'what will the future look like?' It is only 11 years since the first arrival at Heathrow of a Singapore Airlines A380 marked a new future now curtailed by the announcement of the end of production of the type. It was the same airline which withdrew from service its first A380 (9V-SKA) only ten years after delivery. A later aircraft is seen here with a Thai Airways example at Heathrow's Terminal 2. Singapore Airlines A380 9V-SKT approaching Heathrow's runway 27R. My ground to air photography is very much a work in progress and often more work than progress. Those who frequent Heathrow will know that 27R is not ideal for photographing landing aircraft. I was pleased to go out in the late afternoon when the sun was more nose on than side on and I used a decent shutter speed and some exposure compensation to get my mixed results. 200_2_P1000959C

This snatched shot from my taxying plane at Heathrow shows a late evening scene typical of the airport in 2014. Simply, there are 4 A380s in this shot and there were at least two others on the ground. From the camera are two Emirates, one Singapore and one Qantas example. The soon to be opened Terminal 2 is in the background. TZ30_P1020173C

This shot was taken through glass, across the airport from Terminal 4 and on a rainy morning but I think it serves to convey something of the Heathrow of 2013. It seems like only yesterday we welcomed the first ever A380 to the airport; now it is not uncommon to see three side by side. TZ30_P1000715
