An unplanned stop on a journey to Bath brought us to the Kennet & Avon Canal at Bradford on Avon. It was both beautiful and busy but it was possible to capture scenes which reflect the tranquility which somehow pervades even the busy periods. The man had a lock key and was waiting for two boats to come up before his and another went in the opposite direction. This, I think, deserved an additional treatment in b&w. 200_P1050278M

Shortly after I took this picture, 'Meggie' was moved across the canal to a new mooring. The building right of centre was once a warehouse and toll clerks' office. 200_P1050253

As I composed this shot, I was very much aware of the work of John A King who does this kind of thing very well so I hope he will accept this as a little tribute. The view east across Aldermaston Lock follows the Kennet & Avon Canal under the road carried by the Alder Bridge and to Aldermaston Wharf in the distance. 200_P1040426

Seen at Aldermaston Lock on the Kennet & Avon Canal, 'Rainbow Runner' stands out dramatically amongst the more familiar narrow boats in this shot. I have not garnered a lot of information but I think she is a Dutch canal boat now used as a houseboat. Any additional information would be welcomed. 200_P1040418C
