A Few Remaining Seats (2M) - 22 February 2016

Next to ATP CS-TGX [qv] which can be seen earlier in my photos, was a pile of aircraft seat frames. The pictures look very busy; I think the b&w versions probably work better.

The Gas Station - 17 November 2015

There is a Shell gas station I use on vacation on N Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs. I don't think I would want to linger beyond the fill but, if I did, there are seats.

Seats at Caesarea (5) - 19 May 2014
11 Jun 2014 |
|
On our way from the Aqueduct to the National Park at Caesarea, we stopped at the Bird Mosaic at the site of a former villa. The mosaic was difficult to photograph effectively but the wooded ground in the area contained at least four sets of seats which just had to be added to my photos including this highly unusual and colourful example, one of a group of three, fashioned from oil drums.

The café at the D-Day Museum is one of the few places in the UK where floral tablecloths meet camouflage chairs.

Due Sedili (B&N) - 23 February 2014
23 Feb 2014 |

Sometimes, the simplest things catch your eye. You may have seen them before and not photographed them. You wait until the moment is right. There is often something poignant about empty seats in a social setting. You might imagine who has filled them in the past and who will do so in the future. This little scene is part of the 'outside' seating at the Tuscany restaurant of the Heathrow Marriott which is inexplicably closed at weekends. The 'outside' seating is, in fact, an open terrace inside the hotel but outside the main dining room. I wanted to see this, originally posted in colour, in black and white to see if that conveyed a different emphasis. Shot in available light.

I have had this photograph in mind for quite a while. Colour and b&w versions allow comparison. This is the rather stark scene outside a Stubbington social venue. This is 'Smoking Today'.
