In the notes on my earlier photographs of mumok in Vienna, I wrote that I like the building - that it has some architectural merit - and I hoped to capture some of that in a picture. It has not turned out as I wanted but it is somewhat of an abstract anyway. 200_3_P1020885E

The exterior of Vienna's mumok (Museum Moderner Kunst), if a little stark, is at least of some architectural merit. The interior too is of interest but would not be out of place in a prison. The contents, however, possess the unenviable ability to reinforce every negative stereotype of modern art. The exhibits sit on a scale from worthless to mystifying but present only mysteries that no-one would want to solve and the curation does nothing to elevate any of these. 200_3_P1020882C
