Working with my photographs up to thirty years after many of them were taken, I have had, in some cases, to do a considerable amount of research to add information to the notes written on the backs of the originals. The original Gee Bee aircraft, including the Model Z, date back to the 1930s. The history of this replica, seen at Disney-MGM in Florida, was extremely difficult to determine and I recount what I have found out in good faith. A replica was built for the 1991 Disney movie 'The Rocketeer'. What threw me off track was that the aircraft which appears in the early scenes is not in these colours or markings. I understand, however, that the aircraft used was indeed repainted as above for later scenes in the movie. I believe it is now displayed in the original (largely yellow) scheme and with a different 'registration' at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. 920700_100292CE

There is conflicting information online about this 1902 Throrneycroft Steam Bus at Albert Dock, Liverpool. Some accounts imply that this is the original which ran for only a short while before being withdrawn. The more credible narrative is that this is a replica built on a Jeep Grand Cherokee chassis for the 2010 movie 'Wolfman'. A plaque accompanying the vehicle, now an ice cream stall, does not make clear the facts one way or another. 200_3_P1120502

The Jet Age Museum at Meteor Business Park on the north side of Gloucestershire Airport is a very good but still developing museum.
