Route 21 - 25 March 2020

25 Mar 2020 75
When I created my album 'Vision 2020' , I was thinking of such things as Brexit, the demise of the old £20 note and the introduction of the new note. I did not imagine that the year would develop as it has. Who did? The good weather of 25 March could be enjoyed only on a shopping trip but provided good light on a bus shelter on Newgate Lane East, Fareham with its topical poster. First's route 21 stops here; in the meantime we can't wait for '21 to start. TZ70_P1020134CE

Preserved Bus Shelter, Dover - 28 December 2018

30 Dec 2018 2 109
On a very gloomy December day, sight of this beautiful Grade II listed shelter in Dover lifted my spirits. Located at the confluence of Folkestone Road and Elms Vale Road (formerly Elms Road, see note), it once served Dover Corporation Tramways which closed as long ago as 1936 and was subsequently a bus shelter. The roads in this location have been remodelled and the shelter is no longer convenient for the present day bus top which is a few metres uphill on Folkestone Road (left). The shelter is succinctly described on the excellent website linked below. thebeautyoftransport.com/2014/02/19/iron-ladies-cast-iron... 200_3_P1090173E
