Wikipedia records that "according to West Sussex County Council, the A27 is the most unreliable all purpose trunk road in England." There are, along its route, a number of bottlenecks, none more frustrating than at the end of the dual carriageway near Arundel. This rather pathetic attempt to begin an underpass as part of a proposed but failed Arundel bypass has been provocatively in place for as long as I can remember. In this westbound view, traffic leaves the dual carriageway to the left of this shot and shares the two lane slip road with Littlehampton bound vehicles which occupy the left hand lane, leaving a single lane to crawl round to the right, northbound for a short distance and past Arundel. This is a massive failure in planning and a regrettable capitulation to those who have objected to various proposed schemes over the years. RTN_PM
