It began as a bit of fun in New Zealand in 2015 as I used my camera to note the locations of more mainstream pictures. Then it became clear that some of these shots of street signs are quite interesting record shots in their own right. So, 4½ years later, in Dallas...... 200_3_P1110710

This sign at the south end of Herrengasse in Vienna is laughable. You might briefly derive comfort from the 'Einbahn' sign as you swing your car into the street but then you will find any or all of bikes, taxis, tourist horse-drawn coaches and service buses coming towards you. Not for the first time, a reference shot I took when photographing a Chinese restaurant is attractive enough to feature in my 'Where Am I Now?' series. This is in Smiths Falls, Ontario where Union Street is part of Highway 15. 200_3_P1060796

Another picture which was taken as a reference shot makes it into my short, occasional series of street signs. The compositions from my New Zealand holiday just appealed to me. This is in Devonport, a short ferry ride from Auckland, a place for a quiet walk away from the bustle of the city. 200_2_P1030403
