It is not often in the Britain of today that one has the opportunity to photograph a street of such character. The housing on the west side of Chandlers Lane (here) is converted from the Harbour Workshops of 1837 and 1850. The chimney marks the site of a smiddy (smithy) for testing and repairing iron chains.
