On my first visit in some while to the Mid Hants Railway, I was greeted on arrival by the sight and sound of Class 47 47579 'James Nightall GC' making a lively start from Ropley towards Alton. The silver-roofed locomotive, which has had a number of identities, is on loan from Mangapps Railway Museum and was operating on one of four Class 47 Running Days in addition to the steam service. 5300_DSC_0757C
