Tate St Ives (2) - 16 February 2019

This untitled piece from 1976 at Tate St Ives is by the Iranian artist Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian who is gloriously nonagenarian although the placard accompanying the piece (and the Tate website) and her Wikipedia entry disagree on the year of her birth. Whilst observing such detail, I should observe that it disturbs me not a little that the piece depicted here appears rotated through 90 degrees on the Tate website. TZ70_P1000015CE

An extension to Tate St Ives, opened in 2017, has facilitated a notable improvement in its exhibits. In early 2019, several of its 10 galleries hosted the first UK retrospective of the Egyptian-Canadian artist Anna Boghiguian. Much of the content, although engaging, did not lend itself to photography. I took one picture of this detail from the 2014 piece Untitled (Birds) . TZ70_P1000006CE
