On the evening of 3 April 2018, a reported gas leak in St Martins Lane, London led to its closure from St Martins Place/William IV Street to Cranbourn Street with all intermediate side access, including pedestrian routes, closed too. The Metropolitan Police, London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service attended with countless vehicles and theatregoers were eventually turned away.

The people in this view are inside the cordon as the evacuation was initially rather piecemeal and some diners were allowed to continue eating while the extent of the leak was determined.
