The Cornwall, Ontario location of this photograph seems as improbable a place as any to find an electric locomotive until
you read the history provided (in English and French) on the accompanying plaque. I was so thrilled to find this preserved locomotive that I make no apology for posting as many as seven pictures including one of the plaque.
Baldwin Westinghouse electric locomotive No. 17 was built in 1930 as a 70 ton machine and rebuilt to 80 tons in 1954. It worked on the Cornwall Street Railway from 1963 to 1971 and became the last electric locomotive to serve Cornwall.
