I hope this will be being read when the coronavirus crisis is no more than a disturbing and sobering memory. In March 2020, a year which had unfolded in a way no-one could have foreseen, social distancing methods were part of the response to a pandemic of near unprecedented gravity. A walk to the store combined necessary exercise with the minimum of necessary shopping. Notices like this were everywhere at businesses which were allowed to remain open. In those businesses, the staff performed wonders in stressful circumstances. Those at my local Co-op were no exception. Current photographs are taken during exercise or essential shopping trips.
