Finally closed on 31 May 2014 after a long, slow death, the branch line to Folkestone Harbour station is a sad monument to a lost era. Viewed from the station, the line crosses the Folkestone Harbour viaduct to begin a steep climb towards Folkestone East and is lined by disdainful gulls. The unseasonal heavy mist of a June morning, which I thought would spoil my photographs, unexpectedly adds to the sombre nature of the scene. TZ30_P1030927E
