The Screen on the Green (1913) is a single screen cinema near Islington Green. One of the oldest continuously running cinemas in the UK, it is an example of the many purpose-built cinemas that followed the regulations set by the Cinematograph Act 1909. It probably looks better when lit at night rather than at the stark dawn of a Sunday morning but, whatever the time of day, it is a fine piece of early 20th century architecture. I can not decide whether the seemingly random mixture of red and black letters, not to mention the '3' in 'We', is intentional or not. 200_2_P1110062
